chevrolet20160726The Covenant Car Company Inc. (TCCCI), the exclusive importer and distributor of Chevrolet vehicles and parts in the Philippines, has introduced its contender in the subcompact sedan segment – the new Chevrolet Sail. First previewed at the 12th edition of the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) last April, the Sail marks Chevrolet Philippines’ entry in the local car-B segment.

The Chevrolet Sail comes with smart and convenient features, dependable power, stylish design, spacious interior, outstanding ride, and a number of safety features.

    Exterior
Up front, the new Chevrolet Sail is distinctively a Chevy with the brand’s signature dual-port grille design and the Chevrolet golden rod bowtie, which symbolizes the brand’s 105 years of delivering quality products and services in more than 115 countries. It also sports sweptback headlights, a sculpted hood and fog lamps. Turning at the side, the subcompact sedan is integrated with sharp character lines that add to its overall bold design.

The top-of-the line variant, 1.5L AT LTZ, sits on a set of 16-inch gunmetal alloy wheels that projects an aggressive attitude. The rear, on the other hand, is equipped with distinctive taillights, which adds a touch of sportiness to the Chevrolet Sail.

The new Chevrolet Sail is available in seven exterior paint options: Summit White, Black Meet Kettle, Bright White Solid, Peppy Orange (Metallic), Galaxy Silver (Metallic), Synacuse, and Blue Sky.

The Sail received 107 high-standard painting and five anti-corrosion processes for exterior coating, with nine layers of anti-corrosion coating – ensuring the Chevrolet Sail will maintain its luster through the years.

The Sail provides a comfortable and smooth driving experience as it absorbs the dilapidated roads of the country through the McPherson independent suspension at the front, and torsion beam non-independent suspension at the back.

The new Sail also comes with a sunroof, which makes it the first model in its class to offer such feature. With the sunroof, you could enjoy the fresh air when driving in the open road – a handy feature especially when you’re on a road trip.

Measuring 4,300 millimeters long, 1,735 millimeters wide and 1,504 millimeters tall along with a wheelbase of 2,500 millimeters, the new Chevrolet Sail is a vehicle that is bold and composed.

    Powertrain: Decent and Reliable
The new Chevrolet Sail is available in three variants: 1.5L AT LTZ; 1.5L AT LT; and 1.3L MT LT. The 1.5L AT (automatic transmission) LTZ and the 1.5L AT LT variants are equipped with 1.5-liter DOHC D-VVT engine that delivers 109 ps (107 horsepowe) at 6,000 revolutions per minute and 141 Newton-meters of torque at 4,000 rpm. Both variants are mated to a four-speed automatic transmission with active select. The 1.3L MT (manual transmission) LT is powered by 1.3-liter DOHC VVT engine that puts out 100 ps (98 hp) at 6,000 rpm and 127 Nm at 4,000 rpm, and is connected to a five-speed manual transmission.

The Sail’s engine is integrated with a timing chain, which is more durable, stronger and could last longer as compared to a timing belt – translating to less maintenance cost.

    Interior
The interior of the new Chevrolet Sail has practical and intuitive features such as the touchscreen infotainment, sixteen user-friendly storage compartments, and a trunk space of 366 liters.

The touchscreen infotainment system, offered as standard in the 1.5L AT LTZ variant, provides new level of seamless smartphone integration on a nine-inch color display with phone mirroring, natural voice recognition, and Bluetooth streaming audio. The nine-inch infotainment system also has built-in applications such Waze and Spotify that perfect for adventurous and fun road trips. In addition, the Sail’s infotainment system comes with Google Play Store for Android.

The Sail has a Jet Black interior theme along with power windows, a three-spoke steering wheel, a USB port, and a power outlet. The Chevrolet Sail has a spacious interior that can accommodate four to five occupants without compromising comfort.

The new Chevrolet Sail is a vehicle that would fit your daily transport needs around the metro as well as take you up North or down South to unwind and relax.

    Safety
The new Chevrolet Sail comes with a wide range of standard safety features. Its safety cage construction protects occupants in the event of a collision. Its body consists up to 5.7 percent of PHS hot-rolled steel, which has a tensile strength of at least 1,300 Mpa. This makes the Sail’s body strong and durable, which yields better occupant safety – giving you a piece of mind on the road. The Sail also comes standard with anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), and driver and passenger airbags, and is ISOFIX ready.

The Chevrolet Sail meets the highest level of quality with its compliance with G0 global vehicle durability test standards for road conditions around the world. The Sail also underwent about 48,000 kilometers of architecture tests, 350,000 kilometers of power train test, 640,000 kilometers of exhaust tests, and 2.8 million kilometers of simulated road tests.

The new Chevrolet Sail comes with a five-year warranty program. Guarantee coverage of five years or 100,000 kilometers, whichever comes first. Chevrolet Sail owners are automatically enrolled in the 24/7 Chevrolet Emergency Roadside Support for three years, with an option to renew on the fourth year of ownership.
