CHEVROLET Phils. at its recent Motorama sales and display spectacle simultaneously introduced three models catering to as many vehicle segments. Launched at the event were the new Chevrolet Malibu sedan and Spin AUV, and the latest variant of the Trailblazer SUV.
The revised Trailblazer, which combines a 4×2 drivetrain with an automatic transmission, is powered by either a new 2.8-liter Duramax engine that makes 197hp and 500Nm of torque or a 2.5-liter mill that produces 160hp and 380Nm. The smaller engine can be mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, which the carmaker said should bring about better fuel economy. Also new to the vehicle is Chevrolet’s MyLink infotainment system that offers the features of a smart phone through a touch-screen panel.
The Trailblazer 4×2 AT costs P1,488,888.
Debuting alongside the latest Trailblazer spinoff is the Spin, which Chevrolet said throws together style, space, safety, riding comfort and convenience. The Spin can seat seven and is first AUV in the country to offer a 1.3-liter turbo-charged diesel engine. Another variant comes with a 1.5-liter Ecotec gasoline engine and a six-speed automatic transmission. According to Chevrolet, the Spin is equipped with high-tech features and top-notch materials more commonly found in premium vans.
“It has always been Chevrolet’s goal to provide the Filipino market with innovative and commendable products that will set the bar in terms of overall vehicle quality standards,” said Chevrolet Phils. Managing Director lawyer Albert Arcilla “The Spin is a great addition to our portfolio as we push to maintain our growth trajectory this quarter and throughout the year. Thanks to a robust first semester, we increased our sales volume by 39 percent compared to the same period last year.”
The Spin arrives in three variants; 1.5-liter gas with automatic transmission LTZ, and 1.3-liter turbo diesel LS and LTZ. The diesel mill makes 74hp and 190Nm of torque. The 1.5-liter gas engine produces 105hp and 148Nm. Chevrolet prices the gas-fed LTZ at P838,888; the diesel LS at P798,888; and the diesel LTZ at P908,888.
Meanwhile, Chevrolet enters the country’s executive sedan segment with the new Malibu. The car is powered by a 2.4-liter Ecotec engine, which the carmaker said delivers responsive power while offering excellent fuel economy. Helping in this regard is a six-speed automatic transmission with a manual-mode option.
While offering ample space, luxury and safety features, Chevrolet noted the Malibu has been fitted with the MyLink device.
The Malibu sells for P1,498,888. Included are a five-year warranty and free three-year, 24/7 road assistance package.
