Chiefs begin title defense in NCAA football

Defending champion Arellano University will begin its title-retention bid against Emilio Aguinaldo College when the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) football tournament kicks off today at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium.

The Chiefs completed their ascent as one of the top varsity clubs in the country last season, emerging undefeated at the end of the preliminary round before defeating the San Beda Red Lions, 2-0, in the championship match.

Meanwhile, the Generals want a strong start after ending the first round of the previous season at the bottom of the standings with just six losses on their card.

Meanwhile, San Beda will host University of Perpetual Help System Dalta in the second game of the day at 12 noon.

The Red Lions are expected to reassert their dominance against the Altas, who are keen to pull off a better performance this season.

The College of Saint Benilde and Mapua Institute of Technology are slated to battle in the final game of the day at 2 p.m.
