China shares down 0.16% in morning trade


SHANGHAI: Chinese shares were down 0.16 percent in early trading on Monday after HSBC said manufacturing activity fell to an eight-month low in May.

The British bank said its final reading of purchasing managers’ index fell to 49.2 in May, down from 50.4 in April.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index fell 3.64 points to 2,296.95.
