Chinese President Xi Jinping will be in Manila next week to attend the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders Meeting, Beijing’s foreign ministry said on Monday.
The announcement was posted on the website of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“At the invitation of President Benigno Simeon Aquino III of the Republic of the Philippines, President Xi Jinping will attend the 23rd APEC Leaders Summit in the Philippines from November 17-19,” the statement said.
The Department of Foreign Affairs officially confirmed that Xi will attend the APEC Leaders Summit.
Malacañang said it expects all 20 APEC leaders to attend the summit in Manila on November 18 and 19.
US President Barack Obama, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, among others, had earlier confirmed their attendance.
