A Chinese businesswoman snatched by Islamic militants in Sabah, Malaysia, last month was freed by her captors late Friday afternoon in a village in Talipao, Sulu, police and military reports said Saturday.
The reports said Hei An Wei Chang alias Evelyn Chang was found by residents in Barangay Liban wandering aimlessly.
A contingent of Marines fetched Hei and brought her to the marine station hospital in Camp Teodulfo Bautistas in Bus-Bus, Jolo.
Police and military troops are still determining the identities of her kidnappers.
Hei, whose family are fish traders, was reportedly abducted by at least 10 “Tausug speaking” armed men who stormed a small fishing village in Pulao, Pulong-Pulo in Sampurna, Sabah, last month.
The group shot dead her husband before fleeing with her.
