• Chinese mooncake festivals in the city

mooncake20150923The chinahighlights.com describes Mid-Autumn Festival as the second most important festival after Chinese New Year and a special holiday spent with family. This 2015, the festival falls on September 27.

When the festival comes, Chinese families gather in a reunion, feast on dinner, admire the full moon (which is at its brightest and fullest) and eat mooncakes. For them, the full moon symbolizes peace, prosperity, and a call to unite families.

With a huge Filipino-Chinese community, the Philippines has adopted the Mid-Autumn Festival as another way to give importance to the family, and of course for its delicious mooncakes. With this in mind, The Manila Times continues to list venues around the city where delicious and elegantly packaged mooncakes are available for feasting.

Packaging comes in elegant boxes perfect for gift giving to loved ones and acquaintances. Buyers can also pair mooncake with their favorite tea as they welcome the moon. Mooncakes are available until October 18 at Manila Pavilion Hotel’s Patisserie. For inquiries, call 526-1212 extension 2326.
