The University of the Philippines College of Human Kinetics (UP-CHK) with the Sports Management Council of the Philippines (SportPhil) will host the 2016 International Conference on Sport Pedagogy, Health and Wellness slated on November 18 to 20 at the Celebrity Sports Plaza and at the UP Diliman in Quezon City.
It will be the first time for the Philippines to host the three-day international academic sports conference that will draw Physical Education teachers, coaches, instructors, trainers, managers, students, athletes and sports advocates from across the country.
The theme for this year’s event is “P.E. Plus: Retooling Physical Education and School Sports for Inclusion, Development and Competition.”
The seminar will highlight the importance of Physical Education, games and physical activity for the development of students.
“This year’s conference promises to equip attendees with the latest pedagogy through valuable workshops as well as opportunities to showcase their research papers and posters,” UP-CHK Dean Ronualdo Dizer said on Tuesday during a news conference at the Wolfgang’s Steakhouse in Resorts World Manila.
Over 20 foreign speakers will share their knowledge and expertise to more than 900 participants.
“We believe that active students are active learners and that physical activity can help improve performance in the classroom,” said Milo Sports Executive Robbie De Vera.
UP-CHK is one of the prime academic institutions that offer sports coaching, officiating and instruction, strength and conditioning, dance and fitness instruction, outdoor recreation and management, and sports and exercise psychology.
SportPhil, meanwhile, is an organization that promotes excellence in sports management, as well as science and business through its pool of foreign and local experts.
