Created by the National Confectioners’ Association of the United States, International Chocolate Day is now being celebrated by chocoholics the over the world.
While many Western countries have their own specific dates for National Chocolate Day—the United States having celebrated theirs on July 7 according to www.daysoftheyear.com—September 13 is when the whole sweet world marks this novelty holiday, which presumably all dentists dread as well.
According to www.calendarlabs.com, while any day is a good day to indulge in chocolate (provided your blood sugar levels are in control), “International Chocolate Day gives us just one more reason to consume this delectable confection in copious quantities.”
The website adds that though it is unclear when the chocoholics celebration exactly began, “It is celebrated mostly by individuals, local candy stores and bakeries, independent chocolatiers and large candy corporations . . . when everyone shares everything chocolate.”
It further gives home front suggestions on how families can celebrate the sweet holiday by organizing neighborhood bake sales with chocolate as the star of course, creating all new choco desserts, reading up on its history, or simply unwrapping a bar and enjoying it.
But if you want to rejoice along with other chocoholics, check out the following calendar of events around the metro, which will surely draw in sweet tooths in droves as early as now.
