Back in June, Christian Bautista was bestowed the Patnubay ng Sining at Kalinangan award by the City of Manila and Mayor Joseph Estrada for his contribution to the local and international music scene.
In an interview after he received the recognition, the singer said he felt “close to home” because the awardees were carefully chosen by “those within the [Manila] community” of which he is a proud resident.
Eager to keep his fellow Manileños proud, and to give in to the demand of his fans, Bautista subsequently launched his latest single, “Kapit,” under Universal Records. The track—which Christian describes as one that speaks of “holding on” in the face of a relationship’s trials—is currently the theme song of his home studio’s primetime Koreanovela, “Innocent Defendant.”
The music video for the said song premiered in June as well and served as a sneak peek for his upcoming album, which he co-wrote and co-produced with Universal Records.
Meanwhile, the second single of Bautista’s much-anticipated album titled, “Huling Harana,” will be available via digital platforms iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer, Amazon, and Spinnr starting July 28.
The singer explains that the track veers away from the typical Broadway vibe of his music, and is a “hugot”-filled ballad written by Banda Ni Kleggy’s Rye Sarmiento.
Excited to find out how his fans will receive this new sound, Bautista promises his newest work will show his evolution as an artist as he continues to thrive in his gift of music.
