TWO member of a dreaded robbery gang that operates in the Cordillera region have been arrested by police operatives in their alleged hide-out in downtown Manila, officials said on Tuesday.
Senior Supt. Roberto Fajardo, chief of Criminal Investigation and Detection Group- National Capital Region (CIDG-NCR), identified the arrested robbery gang members as James Yayak y Pasyalen, 44, from Mountain Province and Randy Pelking y Damitan, 37, from Aurora province.
The police official said the duo were arrested after joint operatives of the CIDG and Cordillera Police swooped down the suspects’ alleged hide-out at El Pacifico Pension Hill in Sta. Cruz district, Manila late on Monday.
Fajardo said the two were also arrested based on warrant of arrest for robbery charges that was provided by the Police Region Office of Cordillera.
The police official said the two were active members of the co-called Acetylene Gang—responsible for break-ins at Cagayan de Oro Pawnshop in Baguio City; the Mabini robbery incidents and a foiled robbery of a pawnshop in Roxas City.
Seized from the suspects were six pieces of gold rings, four pawn tickets from different pawnshops, small weighing scale and acetylene torch, Fajardo said.
The two are now detained at the CIDG-NCR office in Camp Crame and will be turned over to the Cordillera police for proper. ANTHONY VARGAS
