ANTI-FRAUD operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) have seized on Wednesday afternoon some P8.2-million worth of fake detergent bars after raiding two warehouses in Kidapawan and Davao City, said CIDG spokesperson Chief Insp. Elizabeth Jasmine in a statement. She added that the said operations were covered by four search warrants issued by the courts. Jasmine said Anti-Fraud Commercial Crimes Unit operatives were joined by representatives of Peerless Products, the owner of Champion detergent bar, following a test buy-in of detergent products manufactured by Survive Marketing and DC Invest Inc. They found that the said company uses the authentic Champion brand and replaces the brand with “Barato Bar” and “Ganda Soap.” Jasmin said they are preparing to file appropriate charges against the owners and operators of the warehouses in violation of R.A. No. 8293 or Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines.
