• Cignal grounds Meralco for 3rd win

Cignal HD Spikers caught their third straight win in the Philippine Superliga Grand Prix 2015 at the expense of the Meralco Power Spikers, 25-17, 25-18, 25-16, on Saturday at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.

Following a 30-point explosion during their last game, Oregon native Ariel Usher continued her dominant performance in the tilt to push her side for another win.

Usher contributed 24 points off of 22 kills and two blocks to power the HD Spikers past hapless Meralco in three straight sets.

Meralco’s offense was ignited with a small spark in the third set to cut down the deficit to just four, 17-21, but they were unable to capitalize to extend their match-up.

Consequently, Amanda Anderson and the young Fritz Gallenero provided additional strength for the HD Spiker, adding 11 points each to solidify their team’s grip on the top spot early in the tournament.

Meralco skipper Cha Cruz and import Liss Killurkann scored 11 point apiece as the Powers Spikers absorbed their fourth straight loss.
