Cable channel provider Cignal TV has hit its target of one million subscribers earlier than anticipated this year. Established in 2009, Cignal—the pay TV business of MediaQuest, which is owned by Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co.’s (PLDT) Beneficial Trust Fund—has overtaken its competitors’ dominance in the world of pay television.

Cignal COO Oscar Reyes Jr. said the country’s direct-to-home pay TV provider had 844,000 subscribers at the end of 2014. Earlier projections target Cignal to reach its 1 millionth subscriber by the end of 2015, which the company has been able to achieve at this point.
