Cignal reaches 500,000 subscribers

In just four years of existence, Cignal Digital TV has reached the 500,000-subscriber mark, a milestone worthy of celebration.

It now claims to be the Philippines’ premier subscription-based Direct-to-Home satellite television provider that champions high-definition (HD) TV and superior audio.

Cignal also promotes an improved television experience for the Filipino viewer.

In light of reaching the 500,000-subscriber milestone, Cignal thought of ways on how to give back to the nation for its continued support, deciding that it can best be done by supporting the groups tasked with preserving the rich heritage of the Philippines.

On June 12, 2013, Cignal marked that milestone by supporting the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the National Parks Development Committee (NPDC), during the country’s celebration of the 115th Philippine Independence Day.

Cignal is owned by MediaScape, a wholly owned subsidiary of MediaQuest Holdings Inc. under the PLDT Beneficial Trust Fund. PLDT is the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co.

For subscribers to receive Cignal broadcasts, they must acquire upon subscription the satellite dish antenna, remote control and the set top box (Integrated Receiver-Decoder).

Cignal’s prepaid electronic loading system is powered by the prepaid loading platform of Smart Communications Inc., which forms part of the PLDT Group.

Cignal Digital TV uses the DVB-S2 digital television broadcast standard to accommodate both Standard Definition and HD television broadcasts, as well as interactive services offered on its satellite TV service.
