‘cineANIMO’ set to empower student filmmakers

The National Committee on Cinema of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) calls on the best student filmmakers of Northwestern Mindanao for the 1st “cineANIMO: Misamis-Zamboanga Digital Short Film Festival” in celebration of the National Arts Month in February.

cineANIMO serves as a platform for students to hone their skills in the art of filmmaking, as well as a venue to showcase fresh and creative ideas and recognition to their contribution as budding artists in the filmmaking industry of the region. The two-day workshop will be provided to student-directors and cinematographers whose films entries will be accepted for screening in the festival.

Students currently enrolled in colleges and universities from identified cities in Misamis Occidental and the Zamboanga Peninsula Provinces—Ozamis, Tangub, Oroquieta, Dapitan, Dipolog, Pagadian and Zamboanga—are entitled to participate. Film entries must not exceed 20 minutes and, though the fest has a relatively open theme, it is encouraged that entries highlight the Filipino fighting spirit.

Cash prizes and trophies will be awarded to outstanding short films along with special awards to recognize the best director, cinematographer, actor, story, poster, trailer, best in editing and best in sound scoring.

Submissions are accepted until January 26.

cineANIMO is part if the Cinemas in the Region Program of NCCA’s National Committee on Cinemas which gathers and screens the best regional films across the country. It happens on February 5 and 6 at La Salle University, Ozamis City, organized and implemented by the La Salle University Culture and Arts Office and Teatro Guindegan.
