The Department of Agriculture (DA) has launched a public-private participatory audit (PPA) where both public and private sector representatives can share information, suggestions and comments on government management of agri-based projects.
In an order signed by Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala, the DA-Internal Audit Service was tasked to facilitate the PPA to encourage citizens to have direct participation in good governance.
“The program allows individuals, civil society organizations, special interest groups and other actors of society to participate in the department’s audit activities in order to improve transparency for more effective and accountable transactions in the DA,” IAS Director Irene Alogoc said.
Alogoc said that the pilot implementation of the PPA will commence this month in four towns of Oriental Mindoro— Bulalacao, Bongabong, Socorro, and Pola.
Among the projects that will be audited are an onion hanger facility, corn sheller units under the department’s corn program, establishment of swine production, and a community seed banking warehouse.
