City program employs 2,000 Manileños

At least 2,000 Manileños have gained employment since 2010 under Mayor Joseph Estrada’s program. Manila Manpower Development Center (MMDC) chief Rene Piñon, said the residents were employed in cooperation with the Ermita-Malate Business Owners’ Association (EMBOA) and the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) after undergoing seminar to improve their skills. “A big number of MMDC’s graduates are now gainfully employed at some of the big companies in the city, while some have even landed jobs abroad. Some also started small businesses of their own,” Piñon said.
