Filipino-American Jordan Clarkson who currently plays for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association expressed alarm for his families and friends in the Philippines affected by Typhoon Lando.
“Typhoon Koppu [international name of Lando]swept into northern Philippines. As I learn more about typhoons, it is alarming to see the size and speed of Koppu,” the Lakers guard said via Twitter.
Clarkson said that he never paid much attention to typhoons until he reconnected with his Filipino roots.
“This huge, slow-moving typhoon made landfall near the town of Casiguran on the island of Luzon on Sunday morning. The speed of the typhoon is such that it will cause rain to fall in the same place for days, causing major flooding.”
“Prayers to all in Casiguran and beyond,” Clarkson said.
