• Classes in Metro Manila, 12 other areas in Luzon suspended due to inclement weather


    THE National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Tuesday announced that classes in all levels in Metro Manila and 12 other areas in Luzon were suspended in the wake of heavy rains and floods caused by southwest monsoon enhanced by Tropical Storm “Maring”.

    NDRRMC executive director Eduardo del Rosario said the suspension covered the provinces of Pangasinan, Benguet, Bataan, Zambales, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Rizal, Laguna, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, Metro Manila

    The NDRRMC chief also reiterated Malacañang’s order that work in government offices in Metro Manila are suspended except in agencies involved in disaster risk reduction and management.

    On the other hand, he said local chief executives in Metro Manila and 12 other provinces can also declare suspension of work in government offices, “depending on the prevailing situation in their respective localities.” PNA
