COA: La Trinidad water district failed to collect P484,044.47 taxes

The La Trinidad Water District was unable to collect and remit P484,044.47 of taxes due on payments for job-order services, the Commission on Audit (COA) said in a 2014 audit report. State auditors said this was because the withholding of the required taxes on the payments for job-order services totaling P9.680 million was not strictly imposed contrary to the provisions of Bureau of Internal Revenue Ruling No. 008-2010. “[T]hereby, the district was not able to collect and subsequently remit the corresponding taxes due therein amounting to P484,044.47 and denying the government of the much needed revenues,” the state auditors said.
