COJUANGCO SAYS GOVERNMENT SHOULD HELP POC TO PREPARE PH’S HOSTING OF ASIAN GAMES

2

PHILIPPINE Olympic Committee (POC) President Jose Cojuangco Jr. said that hosting the Asian Games should not be a project of the POC alone but the Philippine government. Cojuangco said that hosting the Asian Games, with 45 countries participating, requires a billion dollar fund to build the necessary sports facilities and infrastructure. “It should be a national effort and not only the POC,” said Cojuangco. The last time the Philippines hosted the Asian Games was in 1954 at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.

  1. Hosting international event? Wow, again, the last time we host the Southeast Asian Games in 2005, hundred of millions had not been accounted for, plunder cases had been filed in the Ombudsman and has never been touched till today, and worse, now come to host Asian Games, another corruption in the making….

  2. Yes its about time the Philippines hosts the ASIAN GAMES. This is not only an endeavor of the POC and the Government but the FIlipino people themselves. Best venue should be SUBIC or CLARK. The Philippine Arena of the Iglesia ni Cristo in Bulacan can serve as venue for basketball and a host of other sports. Yes we should build a new track and field complex which will also be the venue for football events. They should destroy the amphitheater built by FVR and replace it with an olympic stadium. Forget about Manila. Lets make SUbic and Clark the sports mecca for the ASIAN games if every we do get to host it.
