Since Veloci was launched in August 2013 by its makers L Timestudio, the homegrown watch brand has successfully identified itself among Filipinos as the source for reasonably priced yet high-quality watches in eye-catching colors.

Further cementing its position in the local market, Veloci launched its latest collections of colorful timepieces at The Palace Pool Club in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

“Our DNA is color,” enthused Veloci managing director Roy Chua in an exclusive interview with The Manila Times. “That’s basically our position as far as design is concerned.”

With this vision, the brand chose silicone and rubber straps for its 2015 set of timepieces. Chua explained, “Our former collection featured interchangeable NATO straps. For this year, we chose silicone and rubber straps because they are more flexible with colors unlike metal straps.”

This season, fun watch fans can expect straps in bright hues of pink, blue and red, as well as classic shades of black and white. Chua even promised that in the near future, Veloci will introduce brighter colors.

Asked if Veloci seems to appeal to a younger generation, the managing director replied in the affirmative. “Young Filipinos especially love to explore colors,” he explained.

Chua, however, pointed out that despite this captured market, the brand caters to watch lover across all ages, specifically for those who look for something beyond regular watch colors like black, silver or gold.

    New designs
Besides introducing new strap materials, Veloci’s 2015 collections—namely Cruise, Voyager and Pulse—also feature new dial and face colors, and stainless steel and gold cases. Combining all these with 100-meter water resistance, the timepieces look current and fresh.

According to Chua, Cruise is for those who prefer laid-back and low-key statement pieces. The minimalist designs of case and matching colors for the dials and strap exude effortless style. Colors available for the collection are red, blue, black, and pink for the stainless steel case version; black for the gold PVD version; and black and blue for the rose gold PVD version.

Veloci20150528Meanwhile, Voyager is popular among seafarers and marine enthusiasts as it is Veloci’s diver’s watch collection. It has unidirectional rotating bezel day-date display. In sizes of 40mm and 44mm, there are six new color configurations: black and grey for stainless steel; black and white for gold PVD version; and black and blue for rose gold PVD version.

Finally, Chua presented the digital Pulse collection with dual time display, stopwatch and alarm, an illuminator and fuss-free rubber straps, Models come in combinations of black and blue, black and red, all black, and white and gray.

All three collections can be worn by both men and women.

When asked why Veloci hasn’t made separate collections for men and women, Chua explained, “It’s so hard to differentiate men and women’s watches because women these days wear men’s watches. Right now, we just categorize our watches as big or small, or regular or junior.”

Will the trend for big watches stay? “Yes,” the executive confidently answered. “We see more people wearing big watches, and even more consumers who are asking for them.”

    New faces
The Veloci launch held at the country’s first pool club also saw the introduction of the brand’s newest ambassadors, Hideo Muraoka and Catriona Gray.

“Besides being very nice, we find Catriona very pretty. Hideo, on the other hand, has a sporty look on top of being good-looking and cool,” Chua said of the brand’s endorsers.

But more than their looks and attractive bodies, the two also live active and versatile lifestyles that mirror Veloci’s image.

Muraoka is an avid sportsman who is into soccer, crossfit, and Muay Thai. The Voyager and Pulse pieces are his go-to watches.

Gray is a formally trained singer whose voice has a lovely jazz texture. The Filipina-Scottish stunner also likes to write about her travel adventures on her blog. She finds the Cruise timepiece in blue strap and rose gold case to fit her lifestyle.

Veloci watches are available at the brand’s kiosks in SM Malls and Market! Market!; L Timestudio and Timegear boutiques; Asprey kiosk; select Department Stores of SM, Robinsons, Metro, Fisher Mall and Landmark; and online at Zalora.com.ph/veloci.
