Three beauty queens graced a fun afternoon aimed at convincing women they need not pay hefty bills at salons to color their hair. They can do so at home provided they choose the right Do-It-Yourself product, follow each step correctly, and take time to care for their hair.
Binibining Pilipinas International 2014 Bianca Guidotti, Binibining Pilipinas Supranational 2014 Yvethe Santiago, and Binibining Pilipinas Tourism 2013 Cindy Miranda were the special guests of “Color Your Hair Bold” at Revel, The Palace in Bonifacio Global City. Mounted by Watsons, the beauty event featured hair expert Lourd Ramos, who taught the Binibining Pilipinas queens and the women in attendance that the DIY hair color process is safe and easy what with the wide range of trusted dyes available in the market today, as well as post-hair color products.
“What is important is that you take care to apply the hair color correctly, and thereafter maintain proper hair care with a post-color regimen with hair protection like serums and creams,” he said. “There are so many trusted hair color brands in the market today like L’Oreal, Revlon, Kolours, Lolane, Revia, Beautylabo, and Bigen; as well as post hair color products to protect one from damage like Creamsilk, Pantene, Dove, and Tresemmé.”
Celebrity stylist Matt Gozun, on the other hand, shared insights on how to compliment one’s clothing choices with hair color and styling. He believes that exploring the word of hair dyes allows both men and women to complete their overall look.
“Hair color says something a lot about your style and personality,” he related. “But hair color and clothing should ‘compliment’ each other. Know and commit to a hair color then experiment, go wild or be subdue and let your hair do the talking.”
Providing more specific tips, Gozun advised, “Blonde and copper hair is perfect for the most casual and monotone outfit—you can look edgy in an instant.”
Convinced that she can now do her own coloring at home, Bianca Guidotti agreed, “Hair color is definitely a factor in your overall look. It’s a way for you to express your personality.”
For her part, Cindy Miranda advised, “Know your skin tone so you can find the best color that will suit you. Whether you like your hair simple or glamorous, just make sure you can be confident about it.”
Meanwhile, Yvethe Santiago picked up on the importance of post-color hair care and related, “In the modeling industry sometimes the hair suffers a lot due to drastic changes in hairstyles and colors too. It is important to make sure that at the end of the day, the hair is cared for from roots to tips.”
