First-rate comedienne AiAi de las Alas and her fiancé of three years, Gerald Sibayan, wed in a star-studded ceremony at the Christ the King Church in Green Meadows, Quezon City on Tuesday.
As reported by The Manila Times Entertainment columnist Lhar Santiago, the “Comedy Queen” turned very emotional during the wedding march.
“Ai cried while marching. She told me earlier that she was feeling nervous and she didn’t know why. Mixed emotions daw. She’s happy and nervous, and very beautiful,” Santiago relayed in a text message.
The couple’s wedding organizer, Teena Barretto, likewise shared on Instagram delas Alas’ thoughts before walking down the aisle.
Just as she told Santiago, Barretto quoted the bride, “Sobrang saya ko. Kinakabahan ako ngayon pero hindi ko alam kung bakit ako kinakaban, pero napakasaya ko.”
The star-studded entourage included Megastar Sharon Cuneta as Matron of honor and included such big name celebrities as Vic Sotto and Pauleen Luna, Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera, Ogie Alcasid and Regine Velasquez, Alden Richards, Piolo Pascual, Randy Santiago, Ruffa Mae Quinto, Pops Fernandez and Eugene Domingo.
De las Alas’ longtime manager Boy Abunda, meanwhile, led the principal sponsors, along with GMA Network Chairman and CEO Felipe Gozon, movie producers Lily Monteverde and Tony Tuviera, veteran actress and Batangas Representative Vilma Santos, showbiz columnist Lolit Solis, and former Ilocos Governor Chavit Singson, among others.
The Comedy Queen’s son Sancho walked her down the aisle. One of the 53-year-old actress’ two children by ex-husband Miguel Vera, Sancho had played badminton with now 23-year-old Sibayan at De La Salle University. The groom and delas Alas were already a couple when he graduated from college with a Sports Management degree at the same university.
As of press time, the wedding reception is still ongoing at The Blue Leaf Events Pavilion in Taguig City.
On the way there, the new Mrs. Sibayan posted their photo in the bridal car via Instagram with the caption, “First couplie namin as husband and wife wohooooo congrats darl kinasal ka na hahaa @gerald_sibayan.”
She also posted their photo with the cast and director of her GMA Network noontime show, “Sunday Pinasaya” with the caption, “Sunday Pinasaya family thank you so much.”
In previous interviews, the actress said they would spend their honeymoon in Europe.
