The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Sunday announced the arrest of 306 persons for violating the firearms ban. Senior Supt. Wilben Mayor, PNP spokesman, said that as of 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, 306 persons, mostly civilians, have been apprehended for carrying firearms despite the implementation of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban starting September 27. Of these individuals, 288 are civilians, five police officers, 10 security guards, two government officials and one from the Armed Forces of the Philippines. Confiscated were 243 firearms, 89 bladed weapons, 39 other explosives, 34 grenades, 11 firearm replicas and 1,806 ammunition.
