• Comelec Sets Trade Fair Of Poll Machines

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has set a technology trade fair next month to determine which automated election system (AES) to use in the 2016 polls.
“It is where the Comelec Advisory Council (CAC) will assess which automated elections system (AES) they are going to recommend to us,” Comelec Chairman Sixto Brillantes said.
Brillantes said the event shall be open to all companies, whether local, international or multinational.
However, he clarified that participants should have the capacity to provide tech–nology that will earn inter–national certification.
Brillantes said the poll body has been preparing for the presidential polls since December last year.
He assured the public that the precinct count optical scan (PCOS) machines were “still in good condition. Probably, they can still be used for one more election.”
However, the Comelec chief clarified that, given enough funds, buying new voting machines would still be the best option.
