Comelec to impose strict finance rules

Commission on Elections (Comelec) warned political candidates who do not abide by finance rules that they would be declared nuisance candidates if they run again in the 2016 local and national polls. Senior Commissioner Robert Christian Lim on Friday called on some 5,000 candidates that ran in the 2013 elections, to pay the corresponding administrative fine imposed on them for their failure to file their statements of contributions and expenditures.

  1. With this development, it is better not to file SOCE if a candidate spent more than what the law requires and pay fine later rather than filing SOCE if a candidate spent more and face removal from office. take the case of ER Ejercito. What a ruling!
