Commitments renewed to save Benguet River

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet: Stakeholders renewed their commitment to pursue actions to save the Balili River besieged by pollution. The Balili River System Revitalization Coalition (BRSRC) spearheaded the program where officials of Baguio, La Trinidad, Tublay and Sablan and other stakeholders led in expressing their continued support to the revitalization of the river. La Trinidad Mayor Romeo Salda lauded BRSRC and the various stakeholders for their efforts in making the river clean and called on those living along the Balili River take part in the revitalization efforts. Tublay Mayor Armando Lauro enjoined all barangay (village) officials and residents to step up their cleaning activities within their homes, which can be a source of waste and pollutants affecting Balili River. He said pollutants coming from households along Baguio City and La Trinidad affect the villages of Tublay and Sablan in the lower stream of the river system.
