COMIC fanatics and Pope Francis followers would love this.
A few months before Pope Francis sets foot on Philippine soil, the Communication Foundation for Asia (CFA) has designed a comic book featuring the life and ministry of the pontiff.
The CFA on Wednesday said the comic book entitled “A Pope Named Francis: A Pope for the Poor. . .A Man of Mercy and Compassion” will also serve as tribute and homage to the pontiff on his visit to the Philippines.
“The comic book focuses on the preferential option for the poor, with the Holy Father as model of this doctrine in action,” according to a CFA a statement.
The CFA, a pioneer in development communication established in 1968, aims to uplift the people spiritually and empower them.
The Pope Francis comic book contains a special comics magazine focused on the preferential option for the poor, in English and Filipino versions.
It will have a commemorative edition that the CFA said would inspire the youth to emulate the life and ministry of the Holy Father and will present Francis as a model on how to transform Catholic social teachings into action.
The Pope comic book includes different stories in Philippine settings: Quotes from Pope Francis on Call for the Youth; Life and Dignity; Call to Family, Community and Participation; Solidarity; Dignity of Work; Rights and Responsibilities; Option for the Poor and Vulnerable; and Care for God’s Creation.
The 36-paged, full-color comic book measures 7” x 10.”
On January 15 to 19, Pope Francis is expected to visit the Philippines to personally console victims of Typhoon Yolanda in Tacloban City, Leyte.
Leyte and a few other provinces in the Visayas were hit the hardest by the typhoon in November last year.
