Albeit a one-project contract for the moment, GMA’s top executives came in full force to welcome Reyes to her former home (Student Canteen, Coney Reyes-Mumar Drama Studio, Coney Reyes-Mumar on the Set), namely GMA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Atty. Felipe L. Gozon; GMA Vice President for Drama Productions Redgie Acuña-Magno, and Program Manager for ETV Redgynn Alba. The contract signing was held Thursday afternoon at the GMA Network Center.

The seasoned host and dramatic actress is part of the cast of the highly anticipated Ang Dalawang Mrs. Real, as the mother of Dingdong Dantes character.

“Ako ang original na Mrs. Real,” she laughed heartily.

In response to The Manila Times question on whether she had any hesitation to be part of a series that tackles infidelity, given her widely known devotion to the Christian faith, Reyes said, “It’s actually important to have shows like this because this situation happens in reality, so that it gives people a chance to realize ano ba yung mali, at ano ba yung tama.

“On my part,” she continued, “I asked to read the entire story because I’m OK to take part in sensitive topics like this so long as there’s a redeeming value in the end. That’s what’s important.”

Reyes is also happily entering her 40th year in the business, and expressed, “I’m very happy to be back in GMA, to be working with familiar people. It makes me remember the good old days, which are going to get better. May purpose ang Panginoon kung bakit nandito ako ngayon. I felt that the Lord, at this time in my 40th anniversary, wanted me to go back doon sa aking pinagsimulan.”

More than ever, Reyes is grateful to be able to continue doing that which she fell in love with since she was seven years old.

“I was pushed onto the stage by the sister in my school and from that day on, I knew all I wanted to do was to act. And I’m so grateful to the Lord that he has given me this blessing. There is nothing more fulfilling and wonderful but to still be in this business that I love, and which has provided for me and my children and what little investment
I have made. I just give back all the glory to Him.”
