• Construction of P240-M Kalibo bridge underway

THE Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is constructing a P240-million bridge in Kalibo, Aklan which is expected to be completed in June 2015.

Secretary Rogelio Singson is optimistic that once finished, the bridge will further boost tourism industry not only in Aklan, which is home to the world-famous Boracay Island, but in the entire Western Visayas region.

He said the construction of the new bridge will also ease the load off old Kalibo Bridge which is adjacent to the project in providing easier travel from the towns of Kalibo to Numancia and vice versa.

DPWH Region 6 Director Edilberto Tayao said the two-lane bridge project spanning Aklan River has a total length of 450-lineal meter consisting of nine bored piles and eight circular-type columns and street lighting.
