A first of its kind innovation in the Philippine hospitality industry saw a brand new partnership between Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria and wireless services provider Smart Communications (Smart) on March 4.
Recognizing the need for long-term staying guests—often from the international business community, including expatriates and officials from corporate accounts—to be continuously connected for work, or to communicate with family, the hotel now issues Smart Bro Pocket WiFi units to such clients as part of its added service.
“Smart is a trusted brand in connectivity and with their reliable Smart Bro Pocket WiFi service, we can give guests exactly what they need to make their stay with us successful, rewarding and enjoyable which can eventually lead to repeat business,” explained Ian Reid, general manager of Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria.
“The idea is to provide such valued guests with continued Wi-Fi access aside from the wireless internet and broadband connection they have in their rooms,” added Trixie De Chavez, the hotel’s director of sales and marketing.
Moreover, the device can create a WiFi hotspot, which can be shared with up to 10 gadgets of bigger traveling groups.
“This is part of our commitment to bring connectivity to everyone, even tourists,” said Michele Curran, Data and International Services Marketing head at Smart. “For this reason, we are excited to partner with Crowne Plaza to deliver another pioneering service in the Philippines. With Smart’s ultrafast and reliable mobile broadband coverage, guests can stay connected and productive whether they are inside or outside of hotel premises.”
According to Curran, Smart currently operates more than 10,000 4G-capable sites around the country backed by four times more fiber to deliver the fastest and most advanced mobile broadband service from anywhere in the country.
