• Cook, companion survive stabbing


    James Patrick Lumarque, 30, a cook at SM Centerpoint in Manila, and his female companion survived a stabbing on Friday morning in Manila’s Santa Mesa district.

    The suspects were identified as brothers Jed and Justin del Pilar, both residents of Reposo Street, also in Santa Mesa.

    Initial police report showed that Lumarque was brought to the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Medical Center (UERMMMC) at 2 a.m.

    The victim sustained four stab wounds in different parts of the body but was declared out of danger later by attending doctors.

    Lumarque’s female companion, Jean Erika Santos, 27, of 695 San Martin Street, Santa Mesa, sustained several minor wounds.

    She was first brought to Ospital ng Sampaloc but was transferred later to UERMMC, where she was declared out of danger after receiving emergency treatment.

    Police, who are investigating the motive behind the crime, have launched an operation against the attackers, according to Senior Police Officer 2 Marc Allen Caurel of Police Station 8.
