For almost two decades since “Baby One More Time” and “Oops!… I Did It Again” broke international sales records, the voice behind the now iconic hits has finally come to Manila.
Britney Spears arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Thursday noon just hours before her first-ever concert in the country the same evening at the Mall of Asia Arena. The 20-seater chartered plane departed from Kaohsiung, Taiwan where she staged her last show before coming to Manila. In photos circulating online, Spears is seen alighting her private plane wearing a casual getup in a light blue sleeveless top and a mini skirt.
The pop music icon shared her excitement for Thursday night’s on Twitter again posting, “First time in the Philippines! Can’t wait for tonight’s show in Manila!!”
Meanwhile, following the recent attack at the Ariana Grande concert in Manchester on May 22 which killed 22 people, police as of press time had been preparing to increase security in and around MoA. Security personnel, rescue teams, K-9 units, SWAT teams and anti-illegal drugs said they would together to ensure the safety of the fans.
In several news report, National Capital Region Police Office Director Oscar Albayalde said the police and the pubic should not take the event for granted.
“We really have to prepare with all that is happening not only here in the Philippines, but all over the world,” Albayalde said.
More than 10,000 fans bought tickets to the sold out concert.
Spears became an international pop culture icon immediately after launching her recording career.
