• Cordilleran SAF heroes honored

    CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet: Eleven Cordilleran PNP Special Action Force (SAF) heroes who sacrificed their lives during the Mamasapano encounter in Maguindanao last year were honored as Lingkod Bayani by the Civil Service Commission Cordillera (CSC-CAR) here in commemoration of the “Araw ng Kagitingan” on April 9.

    The honorees were Senior Insp. Cyrus Anniban, Police Officer (PO)3 Robert Allaga, PO3 Noel Golocan, PO2 Peterson Carap, PO2 Walner Danao, PO2 Franklin Danao, PO2 Jerry Kayob, PO2 Noble Kiangan, PO1 Russel Bilog, PO1 Gringo Cayang-o and PO1 Angel Kodiamat, including Senior Insp. Gednat Tabdi who will also be honored in Zamboanga, PO2 Joel Dulnuan in Region 2, and PO2 Nicky Nacino in Region 4A, who was also a Cordilleran.

    The awarding was spearheaded by the Regional Director of CSC-CAR, Marilyn E. Taldo and PRO-Cordillera Director, Chief Supt. Ulysses Abellera, at the Masigasig Grandstand of CAR office.

    In his message, Taldo said the Pamanang Lingkod Bayani to the 44 PNP-SAF Members is a program of the Civil Service Commission and pays tribute to public servants who displayed the character of a hero in the name of public service. It covers employees of the government occupying permanent, elective, contractual, casual and conterminous status of employment, including civilian or non-uniformed personnel of the AFP.

    Its components include the Pamanang Parangal sa Lingkod Bayani granted a deceased public official or employee, a posthumous award/ citation in the form of a plaque signed by the Chairman of the CSC; Pamanang Lingkod Bayani Iskolarsyip which grants a discount on tuition and school fees to three immediate family members of the beneficiary in any of the 111-members institutions of the Philippine Association of State Colleges and Universities (PASUC); and Pondong Pamanang Lingkod Bayani which grants a one-time financial assistance to the bereaved family of the deceased public official or employees.
