COTABATO CITY: Police here are hunting down a suspected gun for hire who shot and wounded a soldier while grabbing his motorbike during the first hours of the New Year, a police official said today.
”We have leads about this man, we will get him in due time,” Senior Supt. Rolen Balquin, city police director, said of the suspect, identified as Lucas Kusain.
Balquin said a Private First Class Ali Rakman, a soldier assigned with the 6th Infantry Division, was driving his Honda XRM motorbike along Sinsuat Avenue when the suspect, along with a companion riding tandem on separate motorbike, shot Rakman at past 6 a.m. Thursday.
Balquin said as the soldier fell, Kusain grabbed his motorbike and fled.
Balquin said the motive was ‘agaw motorcycle.” Police recovered empty shells for cal. 45 pistol at the crime scene.
”Kusain was one of the most wanted carnapper and gun for hire in the city,” Balquin said. PNA
