COTABATO CITY: Police here have launched a manhunt against two men who shot dead an employee of Maguindanao electric cooperative (Magelco) while he was heading for work Wednesday, police said.
Senior Inspector Reynaldo Delantin, police station 2 chief, identified the victim as 54-year-old Arnulfo Gonzalbo, Magelco employee and a resident of Cotabato City.
Delantin said Gonzalbo was standing near the corner of San Isidro Street and Sinsuat Avenue at past 7 a.m. waiting for a ride to his office in Barangay Capiton, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao when two men riding tandem on a motorbike shot him from behind with cal. 45 pistol.
He died on the spot.
Delatin believed personal grudge triggered the shooting.
Witnesses have described the attackers in their early 30s, sporting bull cap and dark glasses and believed to be gun for hire.
“We are hunting down the suspects,” the police officer said.
The shooting incident happened while traffic flow along Sinsuat Avenue had been diverted due to street dancing parade happening ahead of the Shariff Kabunsuan Festival on Friday. PNA
