COTABATO CITY: Police here arrested on Monday night three persons and seized about Php7 million worth of prohibited drugs at a police checkpoint.
Senior Supt. Rolen Balquin, Cotabato City police director, said his office had received a tip about impending shipment of methamphetamine hydrochloride on board a mini-cargo truck.
Following the high value intelligence information, Balquin alerted all police units and ordered a lookout for an Isuzu truck to be used by the suspects in bringing into the city the prohibited substance.
Balquin said members of the Police Station 3 quickly established a checkpoint in Barangay Tamontaka Mother.
At about 8:30 p.m. a hauler truck arrived. It was subjected to plain view inspection.
He said arrested were Tato Felmin, his wife Alma and a certain Fahad Guiapar, all residents of Cotabato City.
Balquin said police first asked Felmin about the content of his back up. He told police it contained clothes and few marijuana leaves.
With the advance information about possible entry of shabu, Balquin said the police checked on the bag’s content. It contained more than one kilo of shabu.
Felmin refused to say where he got the prohibited substance and to whom he was to deliver the substance.
Balquin said his office immediately coordinated the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-ARMM).
“The informant provided us the right and timely information and led to the arrest of the suspects,” Balquin said.
He said the informant will remain anonymous as the police will continue its campaign against prohibited drugs.
Balquin lauded the informant for providing the information. PNA
