THE Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) operatives recently busted on two criminal gangs that were involved in the distribution of counterfeit money in Bukidnon and Manila, a senior police official said on Friday.
CIDG Chief, Director Ben-jamin Magalong said the two criminal gangs were busted by their operatives along with the help of representatives from the Banko Sentral ng Pilipinas following the arrest of several of its members during an operation in Bukidnon and Manila.
Magalong said operatives of the CIDG in Northern Mindanao along with BSP representatives conducted an operation that resulted to the arrest of Bernabe Melig, Eddie Baluran and Reuben James Melig during an operation last Wednesday afternoon in Bukidnon.
The CIDG chief said the three were arrested at around 2:30 pm during an operation in Baranga.Lingion, Manolo, Fortich town in Bukidnon in which 164 pieces of fake $1,000 bills were seized from them.
Also seized from them by CIDG operatives and BSP representatives were two cellphones and two P500 bills used as marked money in the operation, Magalong said.
The CIDG Chief added that last Tuesday operatives of the CIDG in Manila arrested a certain Richard Ansos after handing out 10 pieces of P1,000 counterfeit bills to an undercover operative.
Magalong added that four other suspects involved in producing and selling of counterfeit money were also arrested by their operatives in a follow-up operation. They are Ramonito Joseph, 43; Rodolfo Paerat, 43; Adelaida Reyes, 36; and Analyn Reyes, 37.
The CIDG chief said the arrested suspects are now detained at the respective CIDG offices that arrested them and are facing charges for violation of Article 166 and article 168 of the Revised Penal Code.
