• Court affirms COA ruling against DBP CARS

THE Supreme Court (SC) affirmed a Commission on Audit (COA) decision disallowing the purchase of vehicles by government-owned Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) worth P5 million. In a full court ruling, the tribunal dismissed the petition for certiorari filed by DBP assailing the August 18, 2010 COA en banc’s rejection to its request for the lifting of the disallowance of the purchase of vehicles. The DBP purchased 19 vehicles for P5,525,000 for its personnel in 1988 which was not allowed by COA. The high court held that the audit agency did not commit grave abuse of discretion in not approving the purchase.
