• Court extends freeze order on Napoles assets

A Manila regional trial court on Thursday has extended the freeze order on the properties of alleged pork barrel mastermind Janet Lim Napoles.

Executive Judge Marino Dela Cruz Jr. extended the provisional asset preservation order or PAPO, pending the decision whether to decline or to grant the Anti-Money Laundering Council’s (AMLC) motion to issue a preservation order that is not provisional.

Dela Cruz earlier issued a PAPO against the properties of Napoles, former Agusan del Sur Rep. Rodolfo Plaza, former social secretary Ruby Tuason, Energy Regulatory Commission head Zenaida Cruz-Ducut, and other personalities and companies including non-government organizations affiliated with Napoles.

The AMLC had disclosed in its civil forfeiture complaint the bank accounts of Napoles, saying she violated bank secrecy laws, namely Republic Act 1406 and Republic Act 6426.

Also included in the forfeiture case are properties in the name of the Napoles family, including those of her brother Reynald Lim, her husband James and their children James Christopher, Jeane Catherine, Jane Catherine and John Christian.

Aside from Ducut and the Napoles family, 70 other personalities and non-government organizations are covered by the order.

Among those frozen were four bank accounts belonging to Benhur Luy and seven bank accounts belonging to Napoles.

THE government-run Ospital ng Makati (OsMak) wants to push through with the needed operation of Janet Lim-Napoles, the alleged pork barrel fund scam queen, this weekend.

Dr. Perry Ishmael Peralta, OsMak medical director on Thursday said their medical team was ready to perform the needed operations for Napoles on Saturday or Sunday.

He said they are just waiting for the consensus of the personal physicians of the businesswoman on what procedures should be done before conducting the surgery.

Peralta said their team is set to meet with the chosen physicians of Napoles today (Friday) to discuss the medical procedures and treatment she will undergo.

The OsMak team, he added, is composed of a cardiologist, an endocrinologist, an anesthesiologist, a gynecologist-oncologist and a pathologist.
