• Court junks damage suit vs Mike Enriquez

THE Court of Appeals (CA) has junked a damage complaint against broadcast journalist Mike Enriquez of  GMA Network filed by a man who was accused of sexually assaulting two women.

The women’s ordeal was  featured in two episodes of Imbestigador, a television program hosted by Enriquez.

In a 12-page decision penned by Associate Justice Elihu Ybañez and Associate Justices Isaias Dicdican and Victoria Isabel Paredes, the CA’s 9th Division denied for lack of merit the case lodged by Ronald T. Virola.

A certain “Chona” and a certain “Myra” sought assistance from Imbestigador regarding the acts allegedly committed against them by Virola.

According to “Chona,” she was invited by the suspect to go to Mass.

After hearing the Mass, she said, Virola invited her to watch a movie.

Returning home, “Chona” said she could not enter the house where she was staying as it was already past midnight and o she asked Virola if she can spend the night at his house.
The suspect offered “Chona” hot chocolate and after drinking it, the woman said she began to feel dizzy.

The next thing she knew, according to “Chona.”she woke up inside Virola’s bedroom.

The suspect’s helper, “Che-Che,” told “Chona” that while she was unconscious, her boss took video footage of her naked body and that she was sexually assaulted.

On the other hand, “Myra” narrated that she was promised employment by the alleged attacker of “Chona” and that she was also allegedly raped by Virola.

One “Efren” came out claiming that he has known Virola for quite some time and that Virola himself told him that he usually drops Lorazepam capsule, or “Ativan” in drinks he offers to his victims.

On December 10, 2013, a task force from the Department of the Interior and Local Government  (DILG) secured a search warrant and raided Virola’s house, where several pieces of drugs suspected to be “Ativan,” video tapes, camera, air rifle, air pistol and live ammunition were seized.

At the DILG office, Enriquez interviewed Virola, who also claimed that “Chona” and “Myra” were his girlfriends.

When asked by Enriquez why he attacks girls who are asleep or unconscious, the suspect  replied,
