The Sandiganbayan’s Sixth Division has given permission to former Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Alan Purisima to travel to the United States from September 5 to 27 to visit his son who is studying in California. A hold departure order (HDO) had been issued against Purisima and his co-accused pending a graft case filed by the Office of the Ombudsman in connection with the allegedly anomalous courier deal with Werfast Documentation Agency in 2011. An HDO means that they have to seek the court’s permission before their travel out of the country. Purisima is out on bail. The ruling was signed by Associate Justice Rodolfo Ponferrada and concurred in by Associate Justices Oscar Herrera Jr. and Michael Frederick Musngi.
