• Court OKs Abalos’ travel abroad

The Sandiganbayan’s Fourth Division has granted former Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman Benhur Abalos Sr.’s plea to travel abroad from June 20 to July 5. Abalos is facing a graft charge along with former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and her husband Jose Miguel “Mike” Arroyo in connection with the botched $329-million national broadband network deal. Abalos had said he plans to go to Medellin, Colombia with his spouse where his son, Mandaluyong City Mayor Ben Hur, will be awarded as the 2nd Place Winner of the 2015 United Nations Public Service Award for the city’s Project Teach (Therapy, Education, Assimilation of Children with Handicap) at the UN Public Service Forum from June 23 to 26.
