• Court OKs Abalos’ travel for check-up

The anti-graft court Sandiganbayan’s Fourth Division has authorized former Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman Benjamin Abalos Sr. to travel to Singapore for a post-surgery check-up. Abalos, facing graft charge in connection with the botched $329-million national broadband network deal, must leave for Singapore on Feb. 22 and return on Feb 27. The court granted Abalos’ travel request last year for the same purpose but was unable to undertake the trip and filed another travel plea.

The court also asked Abalos to present his passport before the Clerk of Court within five days after his expected date of return.
