Slingshot Philippines and Intramuros headline DWP celebration
Creative trailblazers, design enthusiasts and entrepreneurs will once again connect and engage in creativity as Design Week Philippines returns this April for its ninth bi-annual edition.
Running from April 16 to 24, the cultural endeavor celebrates arts, culture, history technology and innovation by lining-up activities that underscore the exchange of creative energy between an individual and the community.
At the center of activities this year are Slingshot Philippines and Creative Environment
Intramuros. Slingshot Philippines will offer a National Conference on Startups and Innovation where key speakers from the government and innovation sector share ideas and technology that can spark new creative projects and businesses.
To complement the forum, an exhibition design solutions will gather startup companies and social enterprises, funders, incubators, the academe and education sector to showcase their respective tech startup ventures aimed at addressing identified socio-economic and environmental concerns.
Meanwhile, Intramuros, Manila’s oldest district and historic core, will be launched as the first dedicated district under Design Week Philippines’ Creative Environment. The national celebration envisions to establish
the Walled City as a hub that caters to the creative entrepreneurs in the community, infusing new energy and innovation that can enrich the economic and civic assets of Intramuros.
There will be 13 events, eight venues, and 18 partners lined up, aimed at highlighting the existing creative ecosystem in Intramuros, including Spoken Word performances; independent music festival; creative workshops; Design Trails with Bambike; Intramuros Pasyal by Viva Manila; screening of past festival films by SinagMaynila; and a lot more.
