Members of a criminal gang were arrested over the weekend by operatives of the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Ilocos Sur, said CIDG Director Chief Supt. Victor Deona. Quoting reports from the field, he identified the crime gang members as Jogie Igni and Elmer Icari. Deona said the operations were conducted by their operatives in Ilocos region based on three search warrants issued by the courts for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. He added that they are members of the “Igni-Rosete Group” that is notoriously engaged in gun-for-hire and illegal drug-pushing activities in the 1st district of Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte. Igni and Icari will also facing charges for violations of RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) and RA 9516 (Illegal Possession of Explosives).
