Cristobal named DTI head

PRESIDENT Benigno Aquino 3rd has appointed Adrian Cristobal Jr. as ad interim Secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

Cristobal is the Trade Department’s Undersecretary for Industry Development and Trade Policy Group and also managing head of the Board of Investments (BOI).

Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr. confirmed Cristobal’s appointment, which would be effective starting December 31.

Cristobal would replace Trade Secretary Gregory Domingo who quit from the post to return to the private sector.

Domingo resigned last September and was supposed to leave his post earlier, but Aquino asked him to stay until the country finished hosting the 2015 Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit last November.

Cristobal has been in government service since 1994.
