Veteran cue master Warren Kiamco went undefeated to claim the top honors in the 3rd Annual Steinway Classic held at the Steinway Billiards in Astoria, New York.
Kiamco, a silver medalist in the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games, posted a thrilling 13-11 win over American Dennis Hatch in the finals to pocket the $4,000 top purse.
The score was tied at 11 when Kiamco unleashed powerful breaks and flawless shots to clean the next two racks.
Hatch settled for the $2,500 consolation purse.
Kiamco defeated Evgeny Stalev of Russia in the quarterfinals, 9-2, and American Shaun Wilkie in the semifinals, 9-6, while Hatch needed to hurdle Mika Immonen of Finland, 9-7, and American Mike Dechaine, 9-3, to advance to the finals.
It was KIamco’s first title this year in the US circuit.
He placed second in the US B-Box Championships 10-Ball and Chuck Markulis Memorial One Pocket Division, and third in the 5th Hard Times 10-Ball Open, World Professional League Playoffs and US Bar Table Championships Open Bonus 2014.
